Dear Backers,

Once again, we apologise for the delay in providing you with an update. A few weeks ago, we were optimistic about sharing a detailed progress report, but unfortunately, we were unable to do so. We understand your frustrations.

We can confirm that resin production is in progress. Unfortunately, Carlos couldn’t attend the February site visit, and rescheduling was difficult. He stayed in touch with our partners, who took some photographs of the process. While these images are not the most exciting, Carlos will capture more 'action' shots during the rescheduled visit.

Resin production for Option 1 is in progress, with shipping delayed until late April or early May. Fulfilment to all other backers is expected to begin by late June.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and support as the project progresses. Over the past few months, we have been facing some significant business challenges unrelated to the Kickstarter. Rest assured, we are fully committed to completing this project!

Option 1 Now Closed and Some Small Steps ....

Hello backers,

We hope this finds you well and that you have had a good start to 2026. We returned to work on January 21st, so have had little time to get back into the swing of things. However, it has been non-stop since with the usual hurdles and distractions that come with any small business.

OPTION 1 NOW CLOSED (See Update #14)

The closing date for Option 1 came and went with little fuss, as so many of you have chosen Option 2, which is particularly satisfying. Thanks once again for your continued patience. Resin production for Option 1 has begun and shipping is planned for mid to late March. Currently we are on target to start fulfilment to all other backers by mid to late Spring.

Carlos has organised a meeting and site visit with our resin production partners. Following requests from some of our backers he will endeavour to take photos of the casting process. We hope to include these in the next update; however, in the worst case scenario, they will be ready for the March update. 

Finally feels that some tangible results from all the hard work and perseverance are forthcoming.

Coins, Option 1 Reminder, and Merry Christmas!

Dear Backers,

Just a short update for December. 

It pleases us no end that the overwhelming majority of you have chosen to wait for the complete package, the experience that we had always envisioned for you. 

Reminder: deadline for Option 1 (see update #14) is December 31st.

I have continued to answer people’s emails and questions where possible and am getting excited as progress continues.

I would also like to show you the finalised concept for the aged metal, Goblin Coin. The Goblin Coin is a Kickstarter exclusive, available as an add on but also as a FREE item for those that backed The Collection pledge.

Options and Revised Shipping Timeframe

Dear Backers,

We acknowledge that our monthly update is a little late this time, but we believe it is for good reason. Over the past two weeks, we have been engaged in ongoing discussions and follow-up meetings with our resin production partner. We wanted to ensure we had concrete information before sharing any updates.

Throughout this process, we faced a challenging decision. While it might have been simpler to set shipping dates for early 2026, we prioritised transparency and honesty. To do so, we needed to temper our enthusiasm with a realistic assessment of the timeline. As a result, we are now able to share the following shipping schedule. (Please refer to our previous update for details regarding the two options.)

OPTION 1

For those choosing this option, shipping will commence end of February 2026. If you wish to take up this option, you MUST send us an email no later than December 31st at [email protected] with your name and title of your chosen pledge, in the SUBJECT line of your email.

To date, we have had very few people requesting this option and this pleases us greatly. Let me emphasise once more, we urge ALL OF OUR BACKERS, if at all possible, to wait a little longer and choose Option 2, as we are convinced that you will be extremely happy with the final finished product.

OPTION 2

For those willing to wait for the complete project as originally intended, fulfilment is planned for British Springtime 2026. As I mentioned above these timescales although a little pragmatic are realistic and achievable.

I shall continue where appropriate to reply to your comments and will continue to provide monthly updates. I’m hoping to provide the next for the first week of December.

In the meantime, check out the images of the resin copies (apologies in advance for my poor photography skills), it is truly exciting to see these in the hand. The sculpting and casting is of the very highest standard and we are very excited. The detail is insane!

Delays and Options!

Dear Valued Backers,

Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Jay Martin, I am the Black Sun Studios Manager, and I shall be assuming responsibility for the updates and correspondence relating to this KickStarter campaign.

Since our last update (and we are all too aware that we missed one too) much has happened, though tangible progress remains limited—an understandably disappointing reality for both backers and Black Sun Studios. 

Please rest assured that we are diligently working to bring your rewards to you. In light of this, we have devised a potential solution to accommodate your varied preferences.

OPTION 1

We are offering those backers unwilling to wait any longer to receive their miniatures in a plain, sturdy, cardboard box minus all "extras" such as the artwork, stickers, authenticity certificates and the like. These will be despatched first. If you wish to take up this option, you MUST send us an email no later than 24th October at [email protected] with your name and title of your chosen pledge, in the SUBJECT line of your email. Allow me to make it abundantly clear that THIS IS NOT the experience we had planned for you and would much prefer to deliver the project as originally intended. 

Please note, this approach introduces additional logistical complexity, requiring meticulous organisation to ensure accuracy. We kindly ask you to consider how you wish to proceed and communicate your preference accordingly.

Let me emphasise once more, we urge ALL OF OUR BACKERS, if at all possible, to wait a little longer as we are convinced that you will be extremely happy with the final finished product.

OPTION 2

Meanwhile, backers willing to wait a little longer for the complete package—including all of the "extras" —will receive their entire pledge, as originally intended, a little later. 

We have an imminent meeting with our resin production partner and will be able to provide a more accurate schedule for both options in our next update.

As a small business deeply committed to the figure painting community and the modelling hobby, it pains us to see some questioning the integrity of Black Sun Studios and our ability to deliver on our promises. Please know that every day is dedicated to overcoming obstacles and ensuring that we produce miniatures of the highest quality.

We have several exciting miniatures scheduled for future release in collaboration with Adrian Smith; however, it has always been my unwavering commitment that this Kickstarter campaign is fulfilled, before any new steps are taken regarding future releases related to this project.
